The work of Bollhalder Eberle is characterised by an intensive
preoccupation with architecture of different scales and typologies. We
see urban planning, and social and ecological considerations as the
basis of all architectural design. We greatly respect the tradition of
open architectural competitions in Switzerland; a significant proportion
of our built projects are the result of such competitions.
Markus Bollhalder and August Eberle established the practice together
in 1981 in St. Gallen. In 2011, a second office was opened in Zurich.
Since 2013, the practice has been led by Markus Bollhalder, August
Eberle, Raphael Bollhalder and Christian Walser. More
In over 35 years of practice, the office has acquired extensive
expertise in the interdisciplinary planning and realisation of complex
projects in all project phases. A love for detail and an enthusiasm for
architecture are always at the centre of every project.
For us, good dialogue with our clients is essential. We see honesty
and openness – but also independence – as the foundation for working
together. In everyday office life, encourage independent working and a
culture of open discussion among our team. We take responsibility in
training apprentices, and offering internships.
Bollhalder Eberle develops undertakes feasibility studies, concept
designs, architectural competitions and other kinds of studies for both
architecture and urban design projects. The consultation with public and
private clients is just as much a part of the office’s expertise as
complete project planning, detail design and cost management, up to and
including construction management. If desired, the practice can assume
overall responsibility as general planner.
